Bournemouth is very much my home town. I was born in Boscombe Hospital in February 1961. I grew up with my five siblings in Springbourne. I attended St Andrews Primary School, Nortoft Road and Beaufort Secondary School, Southbourne before undertaking an OND in Construction at Poole College. From there I went to Hatfield Polytechnic to study Civil Engineering.
I joined the Labour Party in August 1978 while I was a student at Poole College. In my 41 years of continuous membership I have been very active within the Bournemouth Labour Party. I have always stood by the simple basic principle that the Labour Party is the only party that will take care of ordinary working people, from the cradle to the grave. Labour is the only Party that can be trusted with the economy, education and the NHS.
We now have an excellent Leader in Jeremy Corbyn and leadership team of John McDonnell, Emily Thornberry, Angela Rayner and the rest of the shadow cabinet. I believe that this is the strongest and most progressive leadership we have had in my lifetime. I fully support Jeremy Corbyn as leader and believe he will make an excellent Prime Minister.
I was proud to be the Labour candidate for Bournemouth West in the 2017 snap General Election where I received 16,101 votes, 36.2%. This was the highest percentage ever for the Party in Bournemouth West. This was largely down to our excellent Labour manifesto “For the Many Not the Few”
I will campaign tirelessly for all the people in Bournemouth West ensuring that they are shown the clear distinct difference between the mean selfish policies of this austerity Conservative government and the fair, environmentally sound policies of a Labour Party which would seek the best for everyone regardless of their means or circumstances.
We're a people-powered movement.
Be a part of it.
