Hi, I’m Jo Dale from Alsager and I’m hoping to become your next Labour Party Member of Parliament for the Congleton constituency at the General Election on 12th December. I am an experienced community organiser and Alsager Town Councillor who has been able to make a difference locally, with the passion, determination and focus to represent you at Westminster.
I am not a career politician; I am a working mum and can bring my real-world experience to representing you. My children go to our local schools which cannot make ends meet; austerity has seen Cheshire East schools lose out more than £70m in funding in the last five years. Schools should be funded properly and shouldn’t have to rely on handouts from parents. I have worked as a physiotherapist in NHS hospitals, seeing the difference the service makes every day to support people’s recovery. I have worked in Children’s Centres, seeing first-hand the incredible support they gave families and have watched in dismay as the centres have almost all been axed under Tory austerity. Also, an entrepreneur, I now run my own sustainable small business, which is underpinned by environmental and fair-trade principles and organise community events which support high streets and other small businesses.
This government has decimated our communities, I can offer a real alternative to our Tory MP, who is out of step with people in our constituency. I will fight for your vital services to be funded properly, to ensure that people in our communities can access education, healthcare and decent housing. I will work determinedly for better job opportunities, vibrant town centres and good public transport links to keep this as an amazing place to live.
Raised in a working-class community on a Council estate in Preston, my early experiences shaped my belief that everyone should be given the opportunity to succeed in life. I’ve put my energy into all kinds of successful campaigns from saving greenbelt land, fighting cuts to bus services, getting sanitary products to women who can’t afford them, animal welfare and more recently the single use plastic free movement. As MP for Congleton constituency I would work tirelessly for everyone in our community, for the environment and a positive future.
We're a people-powered movement.
Be a part of it.
