I am proud to be standing for re-election for my home constituency of Torfaen. Wales faces unprecedented strain as a consequence of nine years of Tory austerity. The Welsh Government and Labour Local Authorities have done their best to shield communities from its worst effects but it has done untold damage. The immediate priority is to rebuild our public services, create the green jobs that will contribute to the fight against climate change, and tackle poverty. Universal Credit has failed in Torfaen, driving up debt, increasing foodbank use, and making those in and out of work worse off. Labour will invest in our public services and scrap Universal Credit.
