People in Northampton North are crying out for change.
People here have seen the worst of the Tories. They’ve been damaged by Tory austerity nationally: standstill wages, soaring house prices and public services cut to the bone. And they’ve been hit by the chaotic incompetence of the Tories locally in the bankrupting of Tory-controlled Northamptonshire County Council. That’s why we’re campaigning hard in Northampton North Labour. We came close to winning in 2017 and now just 807 votes stand between us and victory.
I’m building on the strong links and credibility I built up with local people and communities during my time as MP and my continuing involvement in local groups. Our campaign here focuses especially on family finances, housing, food poverty and children’s services. And I’m working with Labour colleagues across the county to combat the appalling consequences of the Tory’s maladministration of public services.
Originally a journalist, I was a council leader and worked for the GMB and then in public affairs before becoming MP for Northampton North and make my home in the constituency.
In recent years I've worked in international development and housing. I'm the author of a number of books and Labour movement publications.
We're a people-powered movement.
