Personal Statement

It is an honour to be the candidate for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine. The North East has been my home since 2005, my roots are here and it is where I have chosen to bring up my family.

I was elected as a local councillor in 2022 and since then have led on education for the Labour group and campaigned for children to be able to walk and cycle safely to school. I was motivated to stand as a councillor because of my concern for the world that my children and other children were growing up in. The impact of climate change is apparent in the north east as elsewhere and I want my children to grow up in a greener, fairer Britain than we have today.

I have worked in further and higher education for over twenty years. Our young people are being failed by broken promises from both governments at Westminster and Holyrood. Broken promises on class sizes, teacher numbers, attainment, nursery places, I could go on. Our FE colleges are in crisis and our universities are suffering from a completely broken funding model.

I hope to play a part in helping a Labour Government to make a difference to our communities here in West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine. If you live in the constituency and have any questions or thoughts please do get in touch.
