I'm delighted to have been chosen by local Labour members here in Rugby to be the parliamentary candidate. I'm proud to come from Rugby and it's a huge honour to stand for Labour to represent Rugby in parliament.
Under the Tories we have had seven years of broken austerity. Wages and living standards have fallen, there is a crisis in the NHS, police numbers have been slashed to the lowest levels since the 1970s and crime is rising.
The stakes could not be higher. We will be visiting every street; to take Labour's message to every home in Rugby. We will be knocking on doors, delivering leaflets, picking up the phone and delivering Labour's message of change.
Only Labour can build a fairer Britain works for the many, not the few – and that starts right here in Rugby.
Debbie Bannigan lives in Rugby with her partner and two daughters. She is the former Chief Executive Officer of Swanswell – a national drug and alcohol recovery charity. Debbie is also qualified accountant and holds a doctorate in business.
We're a people-powered movement.
