 Joanne Ainscough

Joanne Ainscough

Candidate for Wyre and Preston North

Joanne is standing in Wyre and Preston North in order to offer fresh voice. A keen community activist, she has a special interest in food poverty, rural issues, community regeneration, equality and environmental sustainability. She is looking forward to seeing real change under Labour, where we can have a Government tackling social inequalities, inadequate social care and restore our NHS as well as tackling crime and a strong timely response to the Climate Emergency we face.

She is strongly opposed to fracking and will work to ensure that the recent moratorium turns into a permanent ban. She is also deeply concerned about the unfair treatment of WASPI women and will lobby hard for a fair resolution.

With the imminent arrival of Eden North in Morecambe, she is keen to promote the fantastic produce of the constituency and will ensure that it the benefits are felt for our local farmers. Ensuring that those rural voices are heard.

Joanne is from Morecambe but has long standing connections to the Wyre and Preston North constituency, her Father’s family is from Broughton and Preston. Joanne started her working career as a pharmacy technician in the NHS. She decided to go to University as a mature student and retrained as a software engineer. She is married to Christian and has two grown up children from her first marriage and is step-Mum to two teenagers.

Away from politics she is currently studying part-time at the Centre for Alternative Technology for a Masters in Sustainable Food and Natural Resources. She is also a beekeeper and an enthusiastic but distinctly amateur gardener.
