Originally from Bolton, I moved to Carlisle over ten years ago with my husband. We have two young daughters who are both Carlisle born-and-bred.
I have worked in education all of my professional life; firstly as a primary school teacher, then a childminder when my children were young, and now as the education officer at a charity in Carlisle. I am an advocate for high quality education and have worked with local teachers to campaign against school funding cuts.
As a nurse’s daughter, I understand the issues facing our NHS and I have been campaigning against cuts to local services, launching a petition in September 2018 to stop bed closures at the Cumberland Infirmary.
I have been a City Councillor for Denton Holme and Morton South since 2016, which has given me the opportunity to really get to know the issues facing people in Carlisle. I work hard to represent my constituents and give them a voice. I love Carlisle. I think people here deserve the very best. Our public services, local businesses and our communities shouldn’t have to struggle. Carlisle needs an MP with the passion and commitment to stand up for our City – and I have it. That’s why I am standing to be your next MP.
