Terri is a retired GP from Coalville, now a County Councillor who has been improving the lives of vulnerable people for over 30 years.
A former GP and psychiatrist, Dr Terri, as her patients called her, worked in the local NHS for over three decades. For the last six years, she has been the County Councillor for Coalville North, District Councillor for Hugglescote St Mary’s and is the current Labour Group Leader at County Hall. She is also a community activist, community radio presenter and volunteer reader at Coalville Library.
Terri has a strong track record of campaigning and recently led the County and District councils to declare a ‘Climate Emergency’. She is determined to see this acted upon. Terri is committed to disability rights. She worked with the ‘Close the Loop’ campaign to insist on the right of 16-18 year olds with Special Educational Needs to fully funded transport to school.
Speaking of her selection as parliamentary candidate Dr Terri said: “I became a local Councillor because as a GP I know the importance of good health, good jobs, good housing and a clean environment. I have worked for 30 years to improve services for vulnerable people in our area. The Tories have cut these services. They prefer to give tax cuts to big business instead. I believe those who make the most should pay in the most. I know we can live in a fairer society.”
Dr Terri is committed to improving lives in North West Leicestershire. When elected, she pledges to get important local concerns addressed by Westminster.
