Personal Statement
I am truly honoured to be selected as the Labour Party parliamentary candidate for Wolverhampton & Willenhall.
I grew up in Baylis Avenue, Ashmore Park. I went to Danesmore Primary and Wednesfield High school. I studied Biochemistry at The University of Wolverhampton. And I raised my family here.
I’m a Deputy Headteacher. I’m not a career politician, I’m a teacher. But I can’t stand by any longer. I’m standing to make real change.
I am shaped by the experiences of seeing my parents and community work incredibly hard for little reward. As a Deputy Headteacher, I am seeing more and more families having to work around these anti-family hours just to make ends meet and it’s still not enough.
Wolverhampton & Willenhall has much to be proud of but we are being hindered by the Conservative governments chaos and incompetence. People are paying much more tax whilst getting so little in return. People struggling to get a GP appointment, record A&E waiting times, record NHS waiting lists for treatment, a housing and social care crisis, and pay restraint for many years leading to industrial disputes.
We need to fix the economy to grow the economy. Wolverhampton & Willenhall can make more, sell more and achieve more; we have the skills, expertise and workforce. I will work hand in hand with the City council to attract further investment and continue building ambitious projects.
I will fight for the people of Wolverhampton North East to raise living standards for everyone and not just the privileged few. I will work tirelessly for a better, fairer future for all in Wolverhampton & Willenhall.
