Charlynne was one of the first babies born in Milton Keynes Hospital, living in Stantonbury and then Newport Pagnell. She went to local schools in Newport Pagnell, Riverside, Lovat and Ousedale. At 18 years old Charlynne went to Oxford, where she campaigned against tuition fees and worked on many access programmes, ultimately running the student union’s access scheme as Vice President for Access and Academic Affairs.
Coming from a family of teachers, Charlynne has always been committed to education and lifelong learning. A part-time student for many years, she understands the unique place that part-time learning plays in our society, and holds degrees from the Open University and Birkbeck. Charlynne has worked in Further Education for over a decade including at City & Guilds, where she was a Unite workplace representative. She is a governor at Milton Keynes College, and the lead on apprenticeships.
